Frankfurt - Christmas Market

Between Römerberg, Paulsplatz, and Mainkai, the scent of Bethmännchen, hot apple wine, and roasted almonds fills the air.

The Frankfurt Christmas Market is an integral part of the Advent season in the city centre. From the WeihnachtsRoßmarkt through Hauptwache, Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, Paulsplatz, and Römerberg all the way down to the Mainkai, festively decorated stalls line the streets between historic facades, large squares, and the banks of the Main River.
The market is known for its mix of traditional handicrafts, sweet classics, savory specialties, and Frankfurt-specific treats. Bethmännchen, Brenten, Quetschemännchen, and hot apple wine are just as much a part of the scene as the large Christmas tree in front of the Römer. At Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, the “Rosa Weihnacht” adds its own splash of color.
For families, the Children’s Christmas Market on Mainkai enhances the experience. There, the focus is on creative activities, hands-on programs, photo spots, children’s rides, and family-friendly treats. In this way, the Christmas market combines city history, regional culinary delights, and pre-Christmas festivities right in the heart of the city.
