Now in its seventeenth project, the orchestra comprises nearly 70 talented musicians from diverse backgrounds. The orchestra’s goal is to make Frankfurt’s music scene more accessible to both performers and listeners and to create an ensemble that bridges the gap between professional orchestras and amateur music groups in the city of Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region. Since this summer, the Clara Schumann Youth Orchestra has also been in existence; it rehearses weekly and serves as a municipal and extracurricular complement to cross-regional youth orchestras and ensembles for young musicians, which typically require entrance exams and overnight stays. The program features Dmitri Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Op. 107, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36. Michael Preuß will perform on the cello as a valued friend of the orchestra, having previously appeared with the ensemble in 2023 as a soloist and section leader as part of its collaboration with the Eliot Quartet. Lukas Rommelspacher (Oper Frankfurt), co-founder and artistic director of the orchestra, will conduct.
