These were demolished in 1805; instead of city walls, moats, gates and towers, you will now find meadows, trees, flower beds, ponds and, above all, plenty of peace and space.Frankfurters use it for jogging and playing, skating and picnicking. Or to admire art and architecture: on your route, you will pass the high-rise buildings of the banking district, but also the Alte Oper opera house and small garden houses. And there are always sculptures, monuments and fountains to discover throughout the ramparts. The ramparts were created by Frankfurt's city gardener Sebastian Rinz (1782 - 1861), who later had exotic trees and shrubs planted in Nice Park on the banks of the Main. There is also a memorial to him in the ramparts: in the Friedberger Anlage near the Bethmann Fountain."

**On this tour, you will circle Frankfurt's city center for five kilometers. And discover art, architecture and, above all, lots of greenery along the way.**

Frankfurt's probably greenest loop takes you on a five-kilometre semi-circle around the city center – along the former city fortifications from the Middle Ages. These were demolished in 1805; instead of city walls, moats, gates and towers, you will now find meadows, trees, flower beds, ponds and, above all, plenty of peace and space.
Frankfurters use it for jogging and playing, skating and picnicking.
There is also a memorial to him in the ramparts: in the Friedberger Anlage near the Bethmann Fountain.
