Hammering & rolling - A workshop on the “Frankfurt silver inscription”

The unique archaeological discovery of a rolled silver foil with an inscription from the 3rd century is currently keeping many researchers around the world busy.

But what makes this silver inscription so special? In this workshop, you will unravel some mysterious questions through practical work. For example, how a thin, rolled and inscribed metal foil is produced. You will try out how far a small metal ingot can be brought into an almost paper-thin state using your own strength.
