The exhibition Stadt Bauen Heute? addresses the current challenges in the development of affordable and sustainable urban districts in Germany. It sheds light on the political, social, ecological, technical and economic framework conditions and highlights the opportunities and obstacles to urban development. The latest research findings are incorporated into the exhibition through cooperation with the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. The central component of the exhibition, which covers around 300 square meters, is the presentation of five successfully implemented and three unimplemented district developments or those still in the early stages. A historical reference - the Römerstadt from the New Frankfurt Program of 1927/28 - illustrates the change from expert to participatory urban planning.
The aim of the exhibition is to raise public awareness of the challenges of neighborhood development and to motivate active participation in planning processes. A central component of the exhibition is "gamification", which actively involves visitors. Instead of a traditional publication, a board game is being developed that picks up on the themes of the exhibition and can also be played.
