Waterfront/Promenade
A little taste of the Côte d'Azur right along the River Main! Frankfurt’s so-called “Gardens of Nice” offer a touch of the Mediterranean flair with palm trees, fig trees, lemon trees and Mediterranean plant life on the northern bank of the River Main. The unique mini-landscape with its Mediterranean microclimate is located between the Friedensbrücke and Untermainbrücke bridges.

Thanks to the southern exposure, the lee of the quay walls and the sunlight reflected from the river, exotic plants can thrive in the Nizza Gardens in a Mediterranean microclimate. The 4.42-hectare site is one of the largest southern gardens open to the public north of the Alps. Today's plant selection does not require winter removal to an orangery, as frost-resistant species were chosen here that can remain on site, wrapped up warmly, even during the cold season. The Nice continues the ramparts on their western arm to the banks of the Main.
