EUROPE OPEN AIR OF THE HR-SINFONIEORCHESTER AND THE EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK
To kick off the season, the hr-Sinfonieorchester and the European Central Bank are once again hosting the Europa Open Air. Around 20,000 visitors are regularly enthralled by the extraordinary atmosphere on the banks of the River Main during the late summer concert evenings.
As always supported by "Elisabethen Quelle", this time there is a hint of wanderlust and musical exoticism in the balmy Frankfurt evening air, while the audience follows famous composers on their real or imagined adventures. When one Frenchman travels to Hungary and another to Spain, a Russian to Italy, a Norwegian to North Africa and finally an American to Paris, rousing melodies and rhythms spread across picnic blankets and beer tables. Finally, French accordion virtuoso and composer Richard Galliano adds a very special touch to the Europa Open Air 2026 - with tango sounds by Astor Piazzolla and his own "Opale Concerto", which oscillates fascinatingly between classical music, jazz, musette and tango. In the early evening, the hr-Bigband and the US-American jazz singer Kurt Elling, who has won two Grammys, will provide the first musical highlights and a good atmosphere on the Main. In keeping with tradition, the hr Symphony Orchestra and the European Central Bank will round off the Europa Open Air with culinary delights, to which all music lovers are once again warmly welcomed.
