The Belvederchen invites you to linger - including a great view of the cathedral and the surrounding rooftops.

Program:
For the first Rooftop Day, the Historisches Museum Frankfurt is opening its doors and showing otherwise closed places: Two historic rooftops with a view over the city: the Rententurm and the Belvederchen.
Belvederchen on the Haus zur Goldenen Waage: open 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
It is the jewel in the crown of the Haus zur Goldenen Waage: from the Belvederchen you have a beautiful view of the cathedral and the surrounding rooftops. ‘Belvederchen’ was the name given to the green roof gardens in Frankfurt, which until the 20th century offered people in the narrow and treeless streets of the old town fresh air and relaxation. Many roof extensions were destroyed during the air raids on Frankfurt in 1944 - including the most famous roof garden on the Haus zur Goldenen Waage, which was built by a Dutch merchant family on the market square in 1619. As part of the reconstruction of Frankfurt's old town from 2014 to 2017, not only the Haus zur Goldenen Waage was reconstructed - the Belvederchen was also rebuilt, modelled on the historic building.
Until now, the rooftop garden could only be visited as part of a guided tour. On Rooftop Day, the Belvederchen will be open to the public! Experienced guides will provide information about the historical ensemble and point out small special features such as the decorative fountain, the arbour or the view of the cathedral tower.
