The little mermaid, the ugly duckling, the stalwart tin soldier - everyone knows these stories. H.C. Andersen is one of the most translated writers in the world and his influence on children's literature and popular culture is unbroken. To mark the 220th anniversary of his birth and 150th anniversary of his death in 2025, the exhibition presents the diversity of Andersen's work and places it in dialog with Heinrich Hoffmann's picture book aesthetics. The exhibition in the museum's gallery is aimed at children and adults and has been put together by students from the Institute for Youth Book Research and the Institute for Scandinavian Studies at Goethe University.
