In 2025, the "New Frankfurt" celebrates its 100th birthday. The Museum Angewandte Kunst is taking this as an opportunity to stage numerous exhibitions on the design modernism on the Main from the 1920s. The core exhibition "What was the New Frankfurt?" is designed as an initial space in which the question is asked once again what the "New Frankfurt" actually was: who were the protagonists; what ideas underpinned this design modernism and how did they affect people's everyday lives?

The exhibition consists of a media space in which the core questions about the building program are asked and answered as well as their initiatives, people and fields of action are presented in the context of the 100th anniversary. The media space brings together significant objects from the time of the "New Frankfurt", texts and original quotes, images, films, infographics and photographs that tell in concentrated form what the "New Frankfurt" was and will continue to be.
