Homburger Hof
This cider restaurant boasts a long history, a beautiful garden and four bowling alleys dating back to the 1950s.
Host Andreas Kimmel describes his cider restaurant in Eckenheim as a "place for Bembel culture", and that sums it up quite well: the more than 100-year-old restaurant is all about the cult drink. But in addition to the ingredients for success that a good cider restaurant needs – good, hearty food from Handkäs to veal schnitzel, a rustic ambience and a beautiful garden where guests toast each other across long wooden tables – the Homburger Hof has an extra plus to offer.
You and your friends can see if you can hit all nine pins on four bowling alleys in the original 1950s style, each dedicated to a regional celebrity. The team will be happy to explain bowling games such as the "Hombizanische Raute", "Hohe Hausnummern" or the "100er Rennen" to beginners and then wish you "Gut Holz!"
