Lohrberg Schänke
The only restaurant on Frankfurt's local mountain, the Lohrberg, focuses on regional ingredients and cosiness. And now even serves "solar schnitzel".
Frankfurt's local mountain, the 185 metre high Lohrberg, is the city's last vineyard. And a paradise for cycling and hiking: Many beautiful routes lead to the Lohrberg or start from here in the region, for example to the Berger Hang or the Enkheimer Ried nature reserve. In between, there are sweeping views of the city and region - and this pub is also an extremely cosy place to take a break.
The oldest half-timbered part was built in 1763, and from 1919 a garden pub was gradually built here, which is now a real institution in the city. It is also a "Hesse à la carte" restaurant: the menu includes hand cheese, ribs and green sauce as well as Caesar salad or a vegan celeriac schnitzel with green sauce; the main thing is that the ingredients come from the region.
Host Christian Dressler also recently invested in a photovoltaic system and has been serving "solar schnitzel" ever since. Around one in ten schnitzels can be prepared using solar power – and there are also solar trout and solar fried potatoes.
