Schuch’s Restaurant
This restaurant in Alt-Praunheim is clearly committed to apples – and is now in its sixth generation!
In Praunheim, on the north-western outskirts of the city, people have known for generations: When your stomach starts to rumble after a long walk in Niddapark or a bike ride along the Nidda, you go to Schuch's!
As early as 1725, the family settled not far from the river and sold farmhouse bread, sausages from their own slaughterhouse and home-distilled schnapps. At the end of the 19th century, they added their own pub, which has been run by the family under different names ever since. Today, Julia Schulte-Schuch runs the traditional restaurant together with her husband Christian Schulte – the sixth generation to do so.
The menu is centred around Frankfurt's most popular fruit, the apple. Even the tomato gazpacho is served with apple and fennel salad, the spare ribs are served with apple BBQ sauce, the burger brioche contains a beef and apple patty and the pork tenderloin comes in an apple and mustard crust. By dessert at the latest, with the green apple sorbet with Calvados foam or apple tiramisu, you know which ingredient plays the undisputed leading role here in Alt-Praunheim.
