The wooden Goethe Tower soars 43 meters into the sky in the middle of Frankfurt’s Stadtwald: Anyone who climbs the 196 steps to the top of the tower is rewarded with a wonderful view of the green spaces in the southern part of the city and, of course, the skyline. Right at the foot of the tower, you’ll find one of several forest playgrounds in Frankfurt—it spans nearly three hectares and is lined with tall trees, making it a pleasantly shady spot, especially in the summer. Children love the Goethe Tower Forest Playground for its numerous play structures, swings, slides, climbing towers, a wooden maze, and a mud playground.
But adults also enjoy stopping by here: for one thing, because the tower and the forest playground are located on Goetheweg and make for a particularly beautiful spot to take a break. And because the “Goetheruh” restaurant right next door provides plenty of refreshments.
