Hessian Doll and Toy Museum

Special Museum
Museum for children and families
From antique terracotta figures and historic doll's houses to modern Barbies: the perfect place to play and marvel!
A journey through some 2,500 years of childhood awaits you in the late Baroque arcade building of the historic Wilhelmsbad spa and bathing facilities. The oldest exhibits in this museum - wheeled animals, clay soldiers and baby dolls - date back to antiquity. The collection continues with historical porcelain dolls, merchants' stores and mechanical toys through to Playmobil figures and Barbies. The collection of dolls and toys from Japan, which has a close partnership with the Warabekan International Toy Museum in Tottori, shows just how much people have always enjoyed playing. You can even play with some of the toys yourself in this museum: You'll find various corners with doll's kitchens and houses, Lego or Barbies. There are also constantly changing special exhibitions and events where Carrera or Märklin tracks are set up or visitors can have their treasures repaired by doll and toy doctors.
