Famous Building
Industrial Monument
This masterpiece of industrial architecture was designed by Peter Behrens and built between 1920 and 1924. It served as the technical administration building of the former Hoechst AG and is located in today's Höchst Industrial Park.
Within a few weeks, the architect and designer Peter Behrens drew up the plan for the angular building, which took shape between 1920 and 1924. Its external forms are taken from the architectural language of castle construction. The tower and bridge, once a symbol of the former Hoechst AG, thus formed the gateway to both the factory and the district.

The interior features a spectrally colored atrium with three crystal-like glass domes and the exhibition hall, which was restored in 2008. Special features of the building, which can also be described as "converted light" or "expressionism turned to stone", are the interplay of color and form in the domed hall, the Bauhaus and brick ornaments as well as the lamps, door handles and glass windows by Peter Behrens.

The building long served as the technical administration building of the former Hoechst AG. It is located on the grounds of the Höchst Industrial Park and, as an industrial monument, is part of the Route of Industrial Heritage.

It is possible to visit this masterpiece of expressionist architecture. Those interested can take part in free guided tours four times a year on visiting days.
