Günter "Baby" Sommer's large-scale project pays tribute to the legendary "Brotherhood Of Breath" by South African musician Chris McGregor (piano, flute, composition) from the 70s and 80s. With unbridled joy of playing, it revives the boundless spirit of the pioneers of the time "Music must have a rhythm" is how Chris McGregor described the concept of his compositions in 1971: "I've simply had enough of this shitty avant-garde that thinks music should do without time. [...] People here in Europe don't identify with the drum. And that's a shame".

Baby Sommer's project transposes the past of a specific formation from recent jazz history into the present - as an impulse for the current music scene (also beyond the boundaries of "jazz") - and not least also for multi-cultural understanding. For the "Brother & Sisterhood" not only unites musicians of different nationalities, musical traditions and genders, it also provides an example of an "identity" in which such categories prove to be irrelevant and dissolve.

The large formation delights the audience and unites proven free jazz fans and young jazz rock fans.
