The French singer Céline Bonacina is also a household name in this country. Not only because she has released two albums on the ACT label, but also because her performances are unmistakable. She plays the mighty baritone saxophone with a virtuosity that few can match, but her music also stands out stylistically: after studying classical music and training in Parisian big bands, Bonacina lived on La Réunion for seven years. The mix of European and African rhythms and forms that is common there still characterizes her music today. Her new album "Jump!" is an unconventional reminiscence of the eighties fusion jazz of the Brecker Brothers or the Yellowjackets.

With her unmistakable musical voice - a kind of Creole jazz - and her irresistible energy, she has long since become one of the most fascinating personalities on today's jazz scene. Celebrated by critics and acclaimed on the big stages, she continues on her path with impressive vitality.

"Jump!" was born out of a desire to immerse herself once again in the American influences of Céline Bonacina's formative years. Thus, "Jump!" is not a tribute or revival album, but an homage - a love affair with a music that is colorful, energetic and playful. She herself says about her music: "Music is a way of love. The goal is to make people happy and to share by remaining open (...) I move in the field of improvisation, a field where music is written but at the same time strongly based on oral tradition. In improvisation, you learn to capture the moment."
