Jazz in the Palmengarten Rebecca Trescher Tentett Changing Perspectives
The number 10 has helped us to bring order to many facets of our daily lives since time immemorial and has symbolized transformation, completion and perfection throughout human history. Rebecca Trescher also had a certain perfection in mind when she founded her tentet in 2019. She consciously paid attention to the ideal mix of sounds for the instrumentation and asked herself which combinations were best suited to playing with textures. She formed her small big band with saxophones, clarinets, trumpet, concert harp, vibraphone, piano, cello, bass and drums.
"Harp, cello and flutes play prominent roles in the unusual ensemble, symphonic poems by impressionist composers such as Debussy are likely to have influenced Trescher's sound ideal just as much as medium-sized ensembles in the Afro-American tradition, such as those of Charles Mingus." Münchner Merkur, 1/2023
Her band brought to life the impressions that Rebecca Trescher translated into music as artist-in-residence after a stay of several months at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Her "Paris Cycle / The Spirit of the Streets" was named "Composition of the Year" at the German Jazz Awards in 2022.
At this concert, Rebecca Trescher will present the current program "Changing Perspectives".
