KULT-Net Stage - KHUMO
The KULT-Net e.V. association presents on the KULT-Net stage: KHUMO
KHUMO is a five-piece soul and funk band from the Mannheim area. The band was founded in 2022 and has quickly established itself in the local music scene with its rousing mix of soulful melodies and groovy rhythms. The band’s namesake, singer Khumo Kluge from South Africa, exudes plenty of charm on stage with her unmistakable voice, alongside Jörg Heinzmann on bass, Jan Schneider on drums, Marius Rosenthal on guitar, and Bernhard Schmitt on keyboards, featuring Robert Prause on trumpet.
Inspired by classic soul and funk, KHUMO has created a unique sound that they themselves describe as “Hot Soul ’n Funk.” You can think of it as a blend of powerful modern soul grooves with influences from progressive funk, a dash of acid jazz, and a touch of R&B—an irresistible combination that invites you to dance. Their music blends timeless rhythms with a modern flair, creating a captivating experience that thrills a wide audience.
Although KHUMO was founded not too long ago, the band has already won major music competitions, leading to performances on the prestigious stages of the “Nationaltheater Mannheim” (NTM), the Federal Horticultural Show “BUGA 2023” in Mannheim, as well as the Mannheim City Festival, the “Museumsuferfest” in Frankfurt, “Swinging Lautern,” “Konzerte am Neckar” in Heidelberg, the “Japanese Garden” in Kaiserslautern, the “Kulturzentrum Herrenhof” in Neustadt (Mußbach), the “Voll das Leben” Festival in Kallstadt, the “Haardter Kulturweinfest,” the “Leitstelle” in Heidelberg, the “Goldene Krone” in Darmstadt, and the “Domkeller” in Aachen. With their debut EP “On Our Side of The Earth,” they showcased their versatility and musical talent, and on February 21, 2025, they released their debut album “Memories in a Mural.”
Driven by a passion for authentic music and dedicated performances, KHUMO continually push their boundaries while exploring new sonic territories.
