The KULT-Net e.V. association presents on the KULT-Net stage: YERBA COLORÁ

Yerba Colorá is an international alterlatino (alternative Latin) band that was founded in Marburg in 2016. Like a melting pot of sound, Yerba Colorá combines Latin American rhythms (cumbia, son) with elements of psychedelic rock, ska, and reggae. The music’s unique originality is characterized by rousing melodies, exhilarating guitar solos, and a powerful rhythm section, and has been described by Christian Carlisle (BBC Introducing) as “an intoxicating, heady mix.” This diversity is also reflected in the Spanish lyrics written by frontwoman and band founder Naomi Keates, which address both the everyday challenges of life and issues of social criticism.
In 2020, the band released their first EP, “¡Eh! P.,” and the COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out almost simultaneously, immediately provided several opportunities to produce additional song material. It was a success, as Yerba Colorá was soon nominated as a prize-winning finalist in the “Latin” category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The second EP was released in 2021. The album “Renacimiento” was released in July 2023 and has been praised by BBC
Introducing as well as international online magazines such as Rhythm Passport (UK) and Zona Emergente (Mexico).

In 2023, the band gave several successful performances, including a tour of England with concerts in Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool, and Salford, as well as a headlining slot at the Giessen City Festival. In June 2024, Yerba Colorá won first place in the band competition at the renowned AKF Festival in Wassertrüdingen and delivered a successful performance there. In August 2024, the band opened for Panteón Rococó in Marburg.

The six-member group consists of
Naomi Keates (vocals/guitar),
Paul Hilger (lead guitar),
Phil Bicking (bass),
Wiley Sil (drums),
Antonio Zapata Gonzalez (percussion), and
Florian Pfeiffer (keyboard).
