Tarun's music and artistry have been described as "nothing short of remarkable" (All About Jazz, USA), and his debut album Sacred World has been described as a "signpost for the future of jazz in India" (Time Out Magazine). Tarun's fearless and imaginative compositions can be heard on his albums Sacred World, Dharma and The Shape of Things to Come, which have been featured on WNYC, BBC, GQ, Rolling Stone India, hr2-kultur, Red Bull Music and CLASH Magazine. He has performed on various local and international stages including Magnetic Fields Festival, NH7 Weekender, Roskilde Music Festival, Serendipity Arts Festival and Jazz Café in London to name a few.

In his live performances, Tarun Balani seamlessly blends the finesse, controlled volatility and discipline of jazz with Indian, acoustic and electronic elements to create a powerful and moving musical experience.
