The Horst Sessions #86 + Frankfurt Student Jam Session

Curated by Fabian Habicht and Frederich Helbing, a newly assembled ensemble will also play the opening set for Edition #86. This is where people come together who, in all likelihood, have never played together before. In this way, even the first set is meant to resonate fully in the spirit of the Horst Sessions. Joint improvisation, new connections, exchange, risk. The exact lineup will remain a surprise until shortly before the event begins.

The idea behind the Horst Sessions is to provide a platform for the diversity, creativity, and spirit of experimentation in the Rhine/Main music scene and to present it live to an audience. A place for musicians, music lovers, those interested in music, open ears, and parched throats. A place for exchange, getting to know one another, and inspiration. After a short set by the opening band, the jam session begins, and fellow musicians are warmly welcome to join in with their own instruments. Guitar and bass amps, keyboards, microphones, and a drum set are available on site.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., there’s the Frankfurt Student Jam Session—free admission—where students jam together with jazz professionals. Instrumentalists aged 12–18 are welcome to play, and all friends, parents, and jazz enthusiasts looking forward to a lively jazz experience with young people are welcome to listen. Featuring the session team: Corinna Danzer (sax), Gernot Dechert (sax), Martin Lejeune (guitar), Jonas Lohse (bass), and Stefan Schulz-Anker (drums). An event presented by “Jazz and Improvised Music in Schools!” in cooperation with the U.S. Consulate General.
