Zur Buchscheer

  • Apple Wine Tavern
  • Regional Kitchen, German
The traditional pub still presses its own cider - and even offers cider tastings.
If you want to experience Frankfurt's cider tradition in its purest form, you should stop off here. The "Zur Buchscheer" pub is not only one of the oldest cider taverns in the city. It has been run by the Theobald family since 1876 and is now in its fifth generation. The pub is also one of the few that still presses 100 per cent of its cider – and apple juice – itself. For those who find the Ebbelwei a little too sour, there is also a version with a dash of elderberry syrup.
If you want to find out more and try it, you can also sign up for an apple wine tasting and compare Ebbelwei with cider, cider & Co. A good basis is also provided: the menu includes savoury dishes such as meat loaf, schnitzel, ribs, sausages with sauerkraut or the famous green sauce.
