Botanical Garden Frankfurt

The little – and free – brother of the Palm Garden: right next door, you can see plants and animals in specially created biotopes in the Botanical Garden. 

Flooding pondweed, seven-sons-of-heaven shrub, jalapeno tomatoes and triangular pondweed – never heard of them? Then head to the botanical garden! On the eight-hectare site in the east of Grüneburgpark, whose origins date back to the 18th century, herbs and grasses, flowers and perennials, fungi, lichens, shrubs and trees grow in various biotopes in plant communities that are as natural as possible. These include many endangered species.
While strolling through the park, attentive visitors are sure to hear and see insects, birds, frogs and other animals that have found a home in this natural idyll.
The park attaches great importance to accessibility, with the main paths leading almost without steps through all areas of the garden. Good to know: Although the Botanical Garden has officially been part of the neighbouring, fee-paying Palmengarten since 2012, admission here is still free.
