With every glass of apple wine, visitors delve deeper into the complex flavour nuances and experience how much apple wine culture shapes Frankfurt. From timeless classics to original creations, each variety reflects the history of its origins and producers.

In addition to enjoying apple wine, the festival offers a colourful programme of events, including lively live music, informative workshops on the art of apple wine production, and culinary specialities that perfectly complement the typical taste of apple wine.

From pure to sparkling 
– discover the variety 

The Apple WIne Festival in Frankfurt is a journey through the history and culture of a beverage that is deeply rooted in the Hessian soul: Apple wine, affectionately known as "Ebbelwoi". Every summer at the lively Roßmarkt, Frankfurt is transformed into a stronghold of apple wine culture, where tradition and contemporary creations come together to create an unforgettable experience.

For centuries, apple wine has been more than just a popular Hessian beverage; it is in fact an expression of regional identity and joie de vivre. The variety of enjoyment - pure, as a "spritzer" with mineral water or sparkling mixed with lemonade - shows the versatility of this traditional Hessian drink and its ability to unite generations and flavours.

The festival, organised in close co-operation with  local apple wine producers, is a stage for the colourful diversity of apple wine. A varied stage programme with live music creates the perfect festival atmosphere.

  • The diversity of apple wine:
    The festival naturally focuses on apple win in all of its variations. From traditional pure varieties to refreshing spritzers and innovative creations, visitors have the chance to discover the full range of Hesse's national drink.

  • Culinary specialities:
    In addition to the apple wine, the culinary delights are not neglected either. Frankfurt specialities such as Handkäs with music, Frankfurter sausages and delicious grilled specialities provide the perfect basis for apple wine tasting. These are accompanied by the famous green sauce, which, served with Frankfurter schnitzel, bratwurst and potatoes, is a must for every lover of Hessian cuisine. A special highlight are the traditional pretzel boys, who visit the cider festival three times a day with pretzels and Haddekuche in their baskets.

  • Live music and entertainment:
    A varied stage programme with live music ensures an exuberant atmosphere among the guests. Be it traditional Hessian songs, modern beats or international sounds, there is something for every taste.
