Programme:
For the first Rooftop Day, the Frankfurt Historical Museum is opening its doors and showing places that are usually closed to the public: two historic rooftops with views over the city: the Rententurm and the Belvederchen.
Rententurm in the Historisches Museum Frankfurt: 5.00 pm - 11.00 pm
The Rententurm is part of the old building of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt. The tower is part of the Saalhof ensemble, the Staufer imperial palace from the 12th century. It was used for military protection of the gateway on the one hand and for collecting customs duties and harbour fees on the other. Inside was the wood-panelled pension room on the first floor. The room in the attic, created in 1455 by the master carpenter Henze Monkeler, was considered one of the most beautiful viewing points in Frankfurt.
Exclusively for the Rooftopday, the museum is also opening the roof truss of the medieval pension tower in the HMF with a spectacular view of the Main. From the foyer, guests can take a drink to the top and enjoy the view.
