Jahrhunderthalle Club

  • Club
This 60s retro club in Höchst now hosts concerts and a bar where Frank Sinatra used to drink.
Welcome to the sixties! Frank Sinatra drank his gin at this bar, and stars such as Louis Armstrong, Janis Joplin, Ella Fitzgerald and Jimi Hendrix celebrated here after their concerts. The vintage charm has remained: wood-paneled walls, leather bar stools and the blue and white wall honeycombs made of Höchst porcelain from the manufactory here in Frankfurt's Höchst district - the second oldest in Germany. Farbwerke Hoechst AG, which commissioned the construction of the Jahrhunderthalle to mark its centenary, is also based in this district. It was designed by the well-known post-war architect Friedrich Wilhelm Kraemer as a new cultural temple or "Feierabendhaus" for the region; it was opened in 1963.
Present from the very beginning, but initially used as a canteen for the Frankfurt chemical company: today's club. With seating for 450 and standing room for 600, it is now a stage for small, intimate concerts; the program includes burlesque, comedy and more.
