Guided Tour of the Exhibition “Light and Color: How the Divine Reveals Itself”
The significance of light and darkness in Christian thought is evident in the design of churches. When light streams through stained-glass windows, it becomes visible in itself and transforms the interior of the church. Gold has not only material but also symbolic value: its radiance points to Christ or the Kingdom of Heaven. The church year features various liturgical colors—these, too, have symbolic meaning.
