The organ is considered the queen of instruments, as it has the ability to sound as a delicate single voice or to reproduce the vocal power of an entire orchestra. As in many churches, the organ in Frankfurt's St. Bartholomew's Cathedral also serves as a guide to the spiritual world - it accompanies church services and can be heard at cathedral concerts. The neo-baroque masterpiece from the famous Bonn organ builder Klais is the largest organ in Hesse and has four manuals, 116 stops and almost 9,000 pipes. This means that the cathedral organ can represent almost all musical epochs. As part of the cathedral tour, cathedral music director Andreas Boltz plays sound samples on the cathedral organ, explains how the instrument works and its special features and introduces the history of the organ.
