Romanfabrik

Concert Hall
Performing Arts Theatre
Readings, debates, concerts and above all: a good dose of zeitgeist can be found at the Osthafen in this house.
The Romanfabrik with its unique loft atmosphere can be found in an exciting architectural ensemble at Osthafen. The program includes readings, debates and philosophy evenings as well as concerts ranging from jazz and chansons to classical music. Since 2023, the Romanfabrik has been run by jazz musician and radio journalist Gregor Praml, who has refocused the program on the young zeitgeist and the artistic avant-garde.
The Romanfabrik was founded as a literary house - in a rather adventurous way, by the way: A fur thief, who began writing while in prison, and a successful cartoonist fell in love and were given a cellar pub by a brothel owner after their imprisonment. There they founded a place for the independent literary scene. That was in 1985; the Romanfabrik is therefore considered to be Germany's oldest literature house - fitting for this city, which hosts the Frankfurt Book Fair, the largest and most important book fair in the world, every year.
